Music Gives a Soul to the Universe....

Those who have read my blog before will know that I have two passions; fashion and music. I always try to do a music related post as often as I can as it plays a big part in my life. I haven't actually done one for a while as I haven't had the chance to sit down and do a long blog post.

This week has been quite a music based week for me; I have had a work placement at Global radio and have taken part and helped at the music potential event at Wembley Arena that took place yesterday. The event saw Wretch 32, Devlin and Angel perform and gave me the opportunity to DJ at Wembley, which was amazing! I also attended Musicalize at the 02 last week, which saw Chip, Mischa B and Professor Green perform, you can pics from the event on my Tumblr.

I have been surrounded by music more than usual this week so I thought I would pick out my top tracks at the moment. For those wondering why am I talking about music on a fashion blog, the music and fashion industries have plenty in common.

This Month's Picks
Enough of me babbling on about my love for music, let's get down to my favourite picks at the moment, scroll down to see what song's I am blasting out my speakers at the moment. (As always click the lyrical name to be linked to the music video's/lyrical video's.)

Conor Maynard - Animal ft. Wiley
This is my absolute favourite song at the moment. I am quite the fan of Conor Maynard and I love Animal. The beat is brilliant. As for the music video, it has the dark setting that suits the song. I wouldn't say I like the video or it stands out to me but it fits the song.

Justin Timberlake - Suit and Tie
How can I not include JT's latest single on here. JT is back after a way too long break of nearly seven years, and boy is he back with a bang. With Jay Z on the track you just know it will live up to expectations and yep it certainly did. It has that slick smooth vibe to it just like JT and Jay Z, and yeah I love it. As for the music video, it hasn't been released yet, but JT did release a lyric video which features JT looking dapper and slick. The singer is decked out in Tom Ford which has lead to a collaboration between the two, that will see made to measure tailoring and accessories that will feature throughout the 20/20 Experience when it releases. The lyrical video is brilliant so one can only imagine how good the actual video will be. Certainly cannot wait to see it!

Bastille - Pompeii
Anytime I hear Bastille I just think of the amazing mashup they did, featuring the best parts of Kanye West and Jay-Z Niggas in Paris, Bruno Mars Locked out of Heaven, Rihanna's Diamonds and Angels by The XX, on Radio 1's live lounge. It was so good, if you haven't heard it click here. I really was blown away, Bastille are certainly one band to keep an eye out for. The latest track Pompeii from their debut album Bad Blood, which is set to release later this year, is equally as good. The sound is much different from my other picks and is one of those songs to listen to when you want to put on your headphones and ignore the world around you. Check out some shots from their music video below, which is great. It releases on Feb 24th.

I love Lawson, their sound is different and their debut album Chapman Square has such a variety of tracks on it that will appeal to most tastes. I picked it as my album of the year for Live mag, see why by clicking here. As for Learn to Love Again it officially releases on Feb 3rd and it is fast becoming my favourite song from their debut album. It has that upbeat yet rock vibe to it. Lawson is certainly one band to keep an eye out for, the boys are currently on tour around America and I can say that this is certainly one band that is going to go from strength to strength. Their music video has got a great vibe to it; the boys, dancers and plenty of fire with a dark vibe.

Rita Ora - Radioactive.
Radioactive, which is out Feb 10th, has a catchy beat and it's one of those tunes that get your energy up. As for the music video, it is a bit cheesy. It is one of those that you either like it or you don't, just don't watch it after checking out Justin Timberlake's Suit and Tie lyrical video... ;)

50 Cent has not been on the music radar for a while so his latest single featuring Eminem and Maroon 5's Adam Levine is a great track to show he is back, especially if you are a fan of all three and you know what I am! Adam Levine adds the pop esque sounding to the otherwise rap lyrics from 50 Cent and Eminem and the three make for a good sound. As for the music video, it has the dark vibe to go with the song, again nothing special but it fits in with the song.

So what do you all think of my picks? Any songs you think I missed out that should be on there? Leave your comments below.
