The Met Ball 2013

The Met Ball took place last night in NYC and this years theme was all about Punk: Chaos to Couture.

With such an exciting theme, (come on who doesn't love a bit of Punk fashion) I couldn't wait to check out what the stars wore to the Met Ball. That excitement soon died down once I saw what most of the stars opted for.

I am all for wearing what you like and I know that fashion is subjective; what one person likes another dislikes but this years Met Ball was really a bit of a fashion disaster. Scroll down to see what I mean.

Best Dressed
There were not that many outfits that made me go wow, but these ladies looked good.

Katy Perry worked Dolce and Gabbana. I love this outfit on her she looks fab. I would have to say she was probably the best dressed star at the gala.

Not a fan of Jessica Alba's make up but I do like her Tory Burch gown.

Worst Dressed

Hands down the worst dressed of the night goes to Kim Kardashian. I know she is pregnant and all but that is no excuse to wear that hideous Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci gown. What is up with the full on floral look? Why didn't she opt for black like she usually does?! Dear me....

Not sure what Ashley Olsen was thinking with this vintage Dior couture gown.

Kristen Stewart opted for an unflattering Stella McCartney - awful.

Madonna is on this list because I expected better from her. She is one of those few that can pull of the punk look but nope she decided to turn up looking like that.

I love Gwen Stefani's fashion sense she always looks good but I do not like this Maison Martin Margiela gown on her. It's awful. She is another star I expected better from.

Lily Cole looks like she is going to a Halloween party in Vivienne Westwood. VW is the epitome of punk so don't know what happened with this design?

The Rest..
When it came to the colour palette most of the stars opted for either black gowns or white.

I adore Givenchy but I do not like this Givenchy gown Beyonce opted for, not the most flattering.

Love Anne Hathaway's hair, she pulls this look off nicely. Not so sure about the Valentino gown though

Alexis Chung looks nice in Erdem.

Cara Delevingne opted for Burberry. It works.

I see what Gisele was going for with her outfit, whether I like it is another thing though.

No surprise Jennifer Lawrence opted for Dior.

Jennifer Lopez pulls of this Michael Kors gown.

Miley Cyrus embraces the punk theme with her Marc Jacobs dress.

Taylor Swift opts for J. Mendel and looks good.

I am a bit on the fence with SJP's Giles Deacon ball gown; the print is a bit much but she kind of carries it off. I do love her Philip Treacy Mohican headpiece but it does get lost because of the gown's print.

Blake Lively looks nice in Gucci Premier.

Katy Holmes opted for Calvin Klein and I am not a fan of this - the ends look like a tacky halloween costume or loo roll?

Nicole Richie works her custom made Topshop dress but I really don't like the hair on her.

Rita Ora works her Thakoon white dress and subtly embraces the Punk theme.

Sienna Miller's Burberry outfit works. The white gown looks nice and although I am fed up of seeing studs everywhere she has embraced the punk theme with the biker jacket and accessories, and she works it well.

Didn't get the memo?
Some stars decided to ignore the Punk theme and do their own thing. Saying that they did work their outfits even if it did look like they didn't get the memo.

Obviously Gwyneth Paltrow did not get the memo about this years theme being Punk because this bright pink Valentino couture gown does not say Punk to me, even if it does look nice.

Again I really like Kate Bosworth's Balmain dress but it's not really punk to me.

Cameron Diaz was another one that seemed to ignore the Punk theme, her Stella McCartney gown reminds me more of superhero's rather than Punk?!

Solange Knowles looks cool in her Kenzo dress but this really doesn't say Punk to me.
